UC Irvine has ranked fourth in the University Global Health Impact report card, which evaluates top U.S. and Canadian research universities on their contributions to urgent global health research and access to treatment worldwide. UCI ranked higher than Harvard, Emory and Duke universities in the categories of innovation, access and empowerment. “UC Irvine continues to make strong strides in public health-related activities worldwide,” said Brandon Brown, director of the campus’s Global Health Research, Education & Translation program. “This ranking recognizes UC Irvine’s commitment to meaningful medical research that improves the lives of the world’s most vulnerable.” The report card is issued by Universities Allied for Essential Medicines, a worldwide student organization with chapters at more than 40 research universities.
