UC Irvine’s Dr. Maxime Cannesson, associate professor of clinical anesthesiology, and Dr. Shermeen Vakharia, clinical professor of anesthesiology and vice chair for quality and patient safety, are two of 10 recipients of UC Health Fellowships from the University of California’s Center for Health Quality & Innovation. The yearlong fellowships will build leadership skills and address a range of projects, including ones to increase access to specialty care, expand the use of telehealth and enhance patient recovery after surgery. UC Irvine will receive $50,000 per fellow, which will support a portion of the salary and benefits associated with time spent on their fellowship work. UC Health launched the center in 2010 to improve quality, access and value in the delivery of healthcare.
