U.S. News & World Report‘s 2013 college rankings, released Wednesday, Sept. 12, put UCI 44th among all universities nationwide and 12th among public institutions – a one-place improvement over last year in both categories. The Henry Samueli School of Engineering – the only individual UCI school ranked – came in 44th nationwide among schools with doctorate programs. Six University of California campuses scored among the top 50 nationally. The annual listing is achieved by categorizing colleges according to their stated mission, then gathering data from and about each institution in 16 areas related to academic excellence. Finally, those in each category are ranked against their peers, based on composite weighted scores.
