UCI physics professor David Kirkby and three students have designed “wotz,” a mobile and online app that helps consumers understand their energy usage with games, analogies and user-friendly information. The app is one of 55 entered in a U.S. Department of Energy competition, where it has already won the $15,000 Student Award grand prize. Online voting for the Popular Choice Award is open through Thursday, May 31. Log in to see how much energy the production and delivery of your cheeseburger used, and vote to help the Anteater app team win!
