The Center for Health Policy Research and the Division of General Internal Medicine at UC Irvine are hosting a reception for Dr. Harold Sox, one of the nation’s most influential health policy experts, at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at the University Club. Sox (pictured) is a former president of the American College of Physicians and a former chair of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. He and UCI’s Dr. Sheldon Greenfield recently co-chaired an Institute of Medicine committee that set priorities for research on healthcare effectiveness. Sox will discuss such topics as the proposed changes to U.S. healthcare, the current controversy over mammograms, and the impact of research on the effectiveness of healthcare treatments.
