UC Irvine Advisory: Environmental Law and Health
Newkirk Center event brings together experts in law and public health to discuss environmental law, climate change and pollution in China.
The UCI School of Law received a $2 million grant to start an environmental law clinic to further public interest in environmental law, health and sustainability. The clinic will provide law students with hands-on training in environmental legal and policy work under the supervision of lawyers and professors, and it will be closely associated with UCI’s Program in Public Health.
The Newkirk Center for Science & Society was established in 2001 with an endowment from Martha and James Newkirk. The center aims to improve scientific response to community needs and increase the uses of science for the benefit of society. Event co-sponsors are the UCI College of Health Sciences Program in Public Health, UCI’s Research & Education in Green Materials program, the UCI Environment Institute and the UCI School of Law.
