New women's volleyball coach leads UCI back into top 25

Paula Weishoff (pictured) is one of the most accomplished American volleyball players ever and a rising collegiate coaching star, and in her first year at UC Irvine, she has led the women’s team to its first top-25 national ranking in more than 20 years. The Anteaters have entered Big West Conference play with a strong shot at making the NCAA tournament, but Weishoff – a Volleyball Hall of Fame inductee – has bigger goals in mind. “Making the NCAA tournament will be the first step in putting UCI women’s volleyball on the map,” she says. “After that, it’ll be going to the Sweet 16, and then to the Final Four. It’s something we will be striving for.”
