Ivan Soltesz, professor and chair of anatomy & neurobiology, will co-chair the review panel for the Epilepsy Foundation’s research grant and fellowship program. The foundation is an influential national agency dedicated to the welfare of the almost 3 million people in the U.S. with epilepsy, and its grant and fellowship program is the largest nongovernmental research program in the country, funding about $3 million in research annually. Soltesz studies the causes of epileptic seizures related to head trauma in adults and febrile seizures in infants. Among his many achievements, he received the 2009 Michael Prize, a top international award for biomedical research on epilepsy. This year’s review panel will meet Oct. 28 and 29 in Dallas.
