UCI physical sciences professors Matt Law, Jim Randerson and Eric Rignot have been named among the world’s most influential researchers by Thomson Reuters. The 2014 Highly Cited Researchers list includes preeminent researchers who have demonstrated exceptional impact in their fields as measured by citations of their work.

UC Irvine Earth system science professor Eric Rignot, along with project scientists Jeremie Mouginot and Bernd Scheuchl, have been awarded $2.6 million by NASA to continue mapping ice motion in Antarctica.

The funding will permit the Earth system science professor to expand his aerial glacier mapping to the Patagonian Ice Fields of Chile and the frozen fjords of West Greenland.
